Summary |
Part 1: "Poetry not yet written" The poetry of the African Americans who lived in Fulton County, Pa. has not been written. This book is an attempt to write a history of these residents, quoting original sources, using their language as written. Part 2: "Census records and more" : Fulton County has had a Black population dating back to the pre-Revolutionary War period. The 1770 tax records show at least one Black person in Dublin Township associated with John Burd at Fort Littleton. In 1810, his son Benjamin Burd employed 11 Black people. In that census year, 24 out of 40 Blacks living within what is now Fulton County borders were near Fort Littleton. |
