Summary |
Franklin county was formed from Cumberland county in 1784; Cumberland from Lancaster in 1750. It is important to remember the dates. These abstracts were transcribed in the 1950s from the large will books (not the original wills). Franklin county was the "HUB" for the migration west and south. Also during the Civil War (1864) the courthouse was burned by the Confederates, but the records were saved, not all were destroyed. |
