Scope & Content A collection of letters, photographs, and newspaper clippings from the reenactment of the original pioneer caravan, opening the Northwest Territory, that traveled from Ipswich, Massachusetts to Marietta, Ohio during the sesquicentennial celebration of 1937-1938. The letters chronicle the journey of the reenactors on their trek across Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and ending in Marietta, Ohio from December 3, 1937 through March 30, 1938. The newspaper clippings are from central Pennsylvania and the photographs origins are unknown.
